le sigh

I've done it. I've told myself that I'm frying my brains on Math. Well it's complete. The soft gray matter is now an overcooked waxy lump that is incapable of further thought or learning. Thanks a lot math 1050. That sounds sad doesn't it. It would be much cooler if I could say, "Thanks a lot particle physics" or something like that. But I just don't agree with math.

We'll see how this semester pans out, but based on my last midterm, it can't be all that good. At worst, I got a 33%, and at best I got a 66%. I realize I'm just moaning, but seriously, how does one remember all the formulas and tricks and other crap to make this stuff work? And on top of that, if by chance I can flog my lump of mass formerly known as my brain into remembering the formula for exponential decay and then applying it to carbon dating some imaginary fossil leaf found in some imaginary desert it's going to take me quite a long time. I started to work that particular problem when I noticed that I had 25 minutes left of my 90 minute test and still had 6 of 15 problems to go. I find it annoying that the measure of my knowledge is based on how fast I can pull it from the recesses of what my eyes may or may not have transmitted correctly to my lump. Perhaps I'll study history, or something else. But based on my feelings toward this class and the fact that it's the bottom rung of anything engineering based, I think I'm going a different route.
